before i was a mom...

Before I was a Mom,
I made and ate hot meals,
I had unstained clothing,
I brushed my hair every day,
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
I slept as late as I wanted and I slept all night long.
Before I was a Mom,
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
or pinched by tiny fingers.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
I never got up in the middle of the night to make sure everything was okay.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom.

36weeks...

hey baby,
you are is still gaining weight - about an ounce/ 28 grams a day. You weighs nearly 6 pounds/ 2.7 kilograms and is 19 inches/ 45 centimeters long from head to toe. Mummy may begin to feel an increased pressure in the lower abdomen and notice that you are gradually dropping. This is called lightening or engagement, and mummy's lungs and stomach will finally get a chance to stretch out a little - breathing and eating should become easier. However, walking may become increasingly uncomfortable. Also, mummy may still feel the need to go to the toilet all the time. But take heart, all these discomforts are coming to an end soon... :)

we have another 3weeks or so to go baby, but mummy ask that you can hang on for another 2 weeks so that the ever increasing workload can be ease by then and also, we'll be able to attend auntie kelly's wedding on the 3rd of october... :)

daddy and mummy love you lots lots...
muacks muacks muacks...

35weeks...

hey baby,
You now weigh about 5.25 pounds/ 2.4 kilograms and measures approximately 18 inches/ 45 centimeters from head to toe. Your elbow, foot or head may protrude from mummy's stomach when you stretches and squirms about. Soon, as the wall of mummy's uterus and abdomen stretch thinner and let in more light, you will begin to develop daily activity cycles. This week, you are now sporting fingernails and has a fully developed pair of kidneys. Your liver can also process some waste products. There's much less amniotic fluid and much more baby in the uterus, which has expanded to a thousand times its original size. Mummy is feeling breathless now that the top of the uterus is up under the ribs.

We're really getting closer to D day. Hang on for another 4weeks or so ok baby...
Daddy & Mummy love you much. Muacks... :)

saturday night...

hey baby,
today is a lazy day for us all...
after the checkup this morning, we retreated home for a nap till evening (and skipped lunch). afterwhich we rushed to singapore pool booth for a last minute 4D bet and had an early dinner at 6pm. then we headed to bukit timah shopping centre to get you some homewear clothes. one more stuff off the checklist.
as mummy's feet are still swollen and couldn't walk too much, we drop by rall mall cold storage to get some organic popping corn and bacon before heading home.
daddy did the popcorn for snack and mummy tried out a homemade "superdog"... yum yum... :)

daddy made for mummy sweet popcorn...

mummy promoted daddy to be the official "popcorn maker"...

mummy wonder if you're gonna be a sweet popcorn lover like me or a salted popcorn lover like daddy...?

mummy's rendition of superdog "chicken bacon ripper"

and if you'll gonna be a fastfood junkies like daddy and mummy...???

10th checkup...

hey baby,
daddy and mummy just got back from the antenatal visit.
your EDD have been pushed forward to 10th Oct!!!
this is supposed to be our 34th week but dr. ang change it to 35th week...
you now weigh approximately 2.5kg (+/-200g), which is an increase of 500g from the last visit 2 weeks ago.
"baby is at good size and in good position (head down), if mummy's backside is big enough, no problem with going natural..." dr ang commented.
we only managed to see the back of your head, spine and abandomen and did not managed to capture you on 3D image due to your positioning, but its ok, we'll be seeing your soon in about 4 weeks time... :)
the swelling on mummy's legs is a daily affair now, and apparently the tightening feeling on the tummy is actually braxton hicks (false contraction) and its getting more intense as the days progresses. braxton hicks are not painful and this is the way the womb is preparing for your arrival. dr ang advise to monitor the symptom and if the contraction occurs at regular interval of 5~10 minutes (even with no pain), then its time to give him a call...
baby, you be good and try to stay within for another 4weeks or so ok. meantime stay happy and grow healthy...
daddy and mummy love you lots... muacks!!!

meantime daddy will setup the nightlights and have the cot mobile tested...

week34

hey baby,
we're into our 34weeks today...
you now weighs more than 4.7 pounds/ 2.2 kilograms and is 18 inches/ over 45 centimeters from top to toe. You're filling out and getting rounder - you'll need the fat layers later to regulate your body temperature. This is a good time to start talking to you - at 35 weeks your hearing is fully developed. Report shows that if mummy goes into into premature labor, it is relieve to know that 99 per cent of babies born at week 35 can survive outside the womb - and most have no major problems. Although you central nervous central system is still maturing, your lungs are nearly fully developed by now.
mummy knows you can hear fully well at this point of time, as you never fail to respond with some movement whenever mummy talks to you, and you do kick excitedly whenever daddy says his hellos and goodnights too... :)
hooray there's 6 more weeks to go!!!

p.s: see/hear you tomorrow at dr. ang's clinic

wonderful daddy...

hey baby,
daddy & mummy went to tangs orchard for the member's closed door sale last night and manage to get most of the "big" items with special discounted rates and rebate... :)
we spend almost 2.5hrs at the nursery section scrutinizing items by items and deliberated on which and what to buy...
when mummy picked daddy from work earlier, he had mentioned that he's a little hungry... and knowing how anxious mummy is to get to the sale (although the mall is open till 11pm), we headed straight to tangs without dinner. upon confirmation of the stroller we wanted, daddy had a crash course with the nice lady sales rep on the handling of the stroller, while mummy space out and wonder around... :p
next we go around looking for cot mobile, clothes, toiletries, clothes, etc etc...
daddy did not even once rush mummy through, and went to the cashier/sales asst on many occasions to check for stocks and enquire about the products.
when we finally finished paying up for the purchases, its almost 11pm...
gosh, poor daddy must be famished. still, not a word of complain from him...

baby, this is the wonderful daddy that you have... :) you gotta love him lots ya.

p.s: pics of the purchases will be up shortly...

33weeks...

hey baby,
gosh, time flies... we're in our 33weeks.
You now weighs about 4.2 pounds /2 kilograms and measures approximately 17 inches /44 centimeters from head to toe. You should already be getting ready for birth by turning upside-down - your head should be pointing down. Doctor will be paying careful attention to your position in the coming weeks - some babies do decide to turn back round again. Your skull is still quite pliable and not completely joined, so youcan ease out of the relatively narrow birth canal. But the bones in the rest of your body are hardening. Your skin is also gradually becoming less red and wrinkled.

Mummy's feet and ankles are quite swollen throughout the day now. Water retention is often worse in warm weather and late in the day. Surprisingly, keeping hydrated helps reduce water retention. Mummy's body - particularly the kidneys - and you need plenty of fluids, so drink up. But if the face or hands suddenly feel swollen or puffy, it may be a sign of pre-eclmpsia (high BP), so got to call up the doctor immediately...

baby you be good and stay head down until you're ready ok? we've only about 5~6 weeks to go!!! yippie...

daddy & mummy love you lots...

new found buddies...

hey baby,
what intended as a little harmless trip to ikea to get you a bath tub ends up daddy and mummy getting some friends for you as well...
Here we have the red hippo rattler (black, white and red are the only colors you'll be able to see initially after birth), a white duckie rattler, a bunny comfort blankie cum hand puppet and a little teddy bear...
it'll be such an adorable sight to see you cuddle a teddy bear...
mummy is gonna give them a bath and have them sitting in your cot to welcome you home... :)

p.s: whenever mummy buy something for you, daddy will stroke mummy's tummy and say "you're such a lucky baby, must love mummy lots lots okie?"

bathing corner...

hey baby,
daddy and mummy went ikea (again) last night to get your bath tub...
and we've decided that this will be your little bathing corner for now, not a bad location as you can have the scenic full view of the bukit timah hill as you bath... :)
but of course when you've mastered the coordination of your limbs, we'll have to shift to the bathroom, else water will be splashed across the whole room... but that'll be fun though... :)

baby's progress at 32weeks...

hey baby,
mummy have been real busy with work for the whole of last week, hence the lack of posts...
went to Dr Ang last sat for the prenatal checkup. you are weighing 2kg now at week32. Unlike the previous visit (@week28), he did not comment on your weight this time round, so mummy presume that you're developing well within the range... :)
and yes, Dr assure daddy that everything is going well...
From now on, prenatal visit will be every bi-weekly... oh and we're issued the admission letter this time round, so reality is really setting in... :)

32weeks...

hey baby,
You now weighs approximately 3.75 pounds/ 1.7 kilograms and is about 17 inches/ 42 centimeters long from head to toe. Although your lungs won't be fully developed until just before birth, you are inhaling amniotic fluid to exercise your lungs and practice breathing. Some babies have a head of hair already, others have only a few wisps. Thick hair at birth doesn't necessarily mean thick hair later on but children with fine hair in childhood usually have thinner hair in adulthood.
Daddy and mummy loves you and can't wait to see you soon, we'e officially counting down to 6~8 more weeks to go... :)

31weeks...

hey baby,
you're 31weeks today.
Your arms, legs and body continue to fill out - and they are finally proportional in size to your head. You weigh about 3.3 pounds/ 1.5 kilograms and looks more like a newborn and measures about 16 inches/ 41 centimeters from crown to toe. Mummy notice you are not moving around as much, but no to worry; you're just running out of space in mummy's uterus. As long as mummy can feel you squirming, I'll know you're just fine. Believe it or not, you still has plenty of growing to do. You are expected to gain at least two more pounds/ 900 grams before birth. Your organs are continuing to mature and you're passing water from your bladder: good practice for the urinating you'll do after you're born.
its really time for daddy and mummy to gear up and get ready soon... :)
p.s: daddy is snoring away in lala land now. mummy is sleeping soon too.
good night baby, love you lots...

when's it due...

hey baby,
last weekend during the nartional day bbq session at daddy's office rooftop, all people who sees mummy's tummy will ask: "boy or girl?" & "when is she due?"
as mummy checked with dr. ang during the last visit, the due date stays at 15th oct, "but most likely will be earlier", he added...
ah ma and daddy have been "nagging" constantly at mummy recently, asking when mummy will stop driving to work and when mummy intend to stop working? reason being the long drive daily to and fro and alone in a foreign land for almost 12hours per day...
you've been a good girl all these while and mummy is very sure you'll give a cue when you're ready to see this world, right?
official countdown is 66days as of today... :)

Friday, August 7, 2009

daddy's spree...

hey baby,
mummy was showing daddy this cute milk romper that day from one of the BP thread. as the price is rather steep, mummy decided to seek daddy for his opinion on whether we should get i t. The moment daddy saw this, he exclaimed that we HAVE to get this for you. :)
and mr postman went knocking on daddy's office door yet again...
so here you are, another piece to add to your wardrobe.

30weeks...

hey baby,
wow, you're 30weeks today!!!

we just 10 weeks (or less) away from welcoming you to this world... :)
Your lungs and digestive tract are almost fully developed. While you may soon slow up growing in length, (you measures about 15.7 inches/ 40 centimeters from crown to toe by now), you'll continue to gain weight until you're born. This week you continues to open and shut your eyes. You can probably see what's going on in utero, distinguish light from dark and even track a light source. If we shine a light on mummy's stomach, you may move your head to follow the light or even reach out to touch the moving glow. Some researchers think baring the stomach to light stimulates visual development. But don't expect 20/20 vision when baby is born - newborns can see a distance of only about 8 to 12 inches/ 20 to 30 centimeters. (Children with normal vision don't reach 20/20 vision until about age 7 to 9.) To complete the picture, you baby now has eyebrows and eyelashes.

we're just 10weeks (or less) away from welcoming you to this world... :)

chocolate craving...

hey baby,
conversation last night in the car, on the way home...

mummy: i feel like having a chocolate cake
daddy: ok, let's go coffeebean to get a piece
mummy: but i want to go home and do laundry first leh
daddy: ok, we go after that...

and after laundry done at 10.30pm and out of shower at 11.00pm, mummy is left with zero ounce of energy and was in bed snoozing off contentedly...
daddy got back after running some errand and got mummy a box of chocolate flavoured pocky, guess that's the best thing he can find at midnight as a substitute... :)

thanks daddy... :)

p.s: we'll try to get a lana chocolate fudge cake this weekend to satisfy the craving... :)
